Random Beef! *Insert Rant Here*
  • I remember getting banned for saying the Keadin was cooler than Stricker.
Well I did call Stricker lame but still I lol'd.

The sad part is, being banned for those reasons isn't something I'd put past an Xbox Forum mod/MVP these days.

people have been b& for that before. :D
  • I had to make sure to PM that HeMan guy, as he kind of missed the point I was trying to make in that thread.

Here it is for you guys who don't care:

I pay for XGame Party Chat on Live. Is it worth the money? Not really. But, it's something I'm used to. So I pay. Much like the car wash I referenced. Not everything is worth the money you pay... but convenience and expendable cash make the choice easy... for me.

The other point he touched on was the timed exclusives... I don't like them and I think they're dumb. I just think that it's our 'Live' money that's going towards 'em.

    Briochewarios is still an idiot.

    Hello Doos,

I agree on the timed exclusives, and to go in a bit of a tangent, in Spring, Summer, and Fall, washing your own car not only saves you money but you'll also do a far better job than most crappy touchless washes. A bucket of water, a sponge, and under 30 minutes is all you need to get your car sparkling.

    Yes, I know :(.

She replied actually, and aside from thanking me for a nice PM (instead of an angry one I guess), mentioned how that thread had gotten out of hand in general, that mods/MVPs are constantly monitoring all forums, and that BRIOCH has been banned before and action will be taken against him as required.

I just replied back focusing on the moderation of all forums bit, explaining how we've had issues with one moderator (no names) who's constantly but carefully abused his authority to the detriment of the community, and the best action we were able to accomplish was the stripping of his MVP status (well, Jake was responsible for that, but it still sounded good).

I then went on to mention that it's one thing for a random mod to pop into a forum and enforce the ToU, and another for a mod to become familiar with a forum and then enforce the ToU, requesting once again more consistent monitoring of our forums.

    We'll see what she says.

Nope, 'cause banning him would be proper moderation :(.
  • Yeah i reported the whole thread citing muliple instances of harassment, i jus find i ironic that that guy got nailed instead of someone who was doing it as much/more.

I still wash the car by hand, but at one of those pay and spray places. I like washing my car. Give 'er some love and a good rub down. Can't wait til winter is over. She's so cold... so very cold.

    And grimy salt covered :(.

You $10.00 at Canadian Tire will get you the bucket and a good sponge. Might want to wait for Spring though.
  • Seems like my Twitter account was compromised by a spam bot, intent on sending about 100 direct messages to people I follow, regarding iPhone 4 testing and a contest. I had to change my password and delete them all manually, as well as one tweet it made about it.

It scared me a bit/worried me, but hopefully that'll be the end of it. I don't want it to be compromised again, or (even worse) have more important accounts compromised. It happened to a few friends though too, so I assume it might've just been a server attack...

Still worried by it though. I also changed my Live password to the same, longer/more obscure password.
  • Dedicated to Raj, who's in the market, and reminded me that I hate it:

How Many Jobs Have YOU Had?!

    1 Can Sorter Guy
    2 Paper Boy
    3 Golf Cart Guy
    4 Sub Shop Sammitch Maker
5 Roofer. 3 different companies over a span of years.
    6 Demolition
    7 Tire sorter guy
    8 T shirt making place
    9 Metal Stamping
    10 Lumber mill
    11 Hotel Porter
    12 Hotel Housekeeper
    13 Fruit picker
    14 Warehouse guy
    15 Walmart Warehouse guy
    16 Heavy equipment operator
    17 Flyer delivery...
    18 Conductor

My most hated out of those was the 'T Shirt' place and the 'Metal Stamping'.

I stood at the end of a conveyor dryer and folded shirts into a box, one by one, 12 hours a day. It was so mind numbingly boring that I felt, literally, quite suicidal after I'd get finished work. It did pay well though. $13 under the table. About $1500 cash every two weeks.

'Metal Stamping' was a fabrication place. I hated it, I used to not show up all the time and wouldn't call or anything.

Once, I ditched work and played Final Fantasy on the SNES all day. When I finally went back to work I told them that 'A friend of mine offered me $500 to deliver some shrooms to Cranbrook!' (1000 km away)

That was my excuse... and I didn't care, 'cause I hated the place and was just waiting to be fired.. but was too lazy to quit.

    I hate looking for work.
  • I hate looking for work too
its hard to find part time work for students around here

all the retail places want college kids :(
  • I'll play along.

My jobs (at least the ones I got paid for):

    1) newspaper delivery boy
    2) dishwasher
    3) pizza delivery
    4) club cleaner
    5) grunt (construction)
    6) ski lift operator
    7) automotive detailer
    8) farmhand
    9) escort driver (yes, those kind of escorts)
    10) number cruncher (daytime)
    11) number cruncher (nighttime)
    12) night auditor

I do believe that is all of them. The most hated of the lot is a tie between dishwasher and grunt. I hated both and would lay in bed thinking of ways to avoid going to work each day.
  • I've only had 2 jobs, although inside of 1 of the jobs I've had a few positions.

    1) Babysitter ('03-07)
    2) Janitor ('04 - present) - assistant floor man -> random job dooer/assistant floor man -> random job dooer/assistant floor man/assistant supervisor -> Supervisor/Floor man(2 jobs that used to be 5hrs/8hrs I now do myself in one 8 hour shift)

I've never had to look for work. The janitorial position is in my dads company so I was just, essentially, forced into it lol

Escort driver? I can't say I'd mind doing that too much, considering you'd probably be driving late nights with open roads (hence, little to no traffic). Well, other than the potential distractions in the back seat.
  • I'll play along too...

    Newspaper Delivery (paid SHIT)
    Babysitting
    Stocking at PetSmart
    Cashier at PetSmart
    Lab Coordinator
    Technical Specialist
    Technical Support Specialist.

That's pretty much it, looking to get into more of a Systems or Business Analyst position now...
  • Here's my list (not in order but close):

    - Winners Store Associate
    - Farm Market Worker and Tractor Driver
    - Warehouse Worker (Temp Job)
    - Bell Canada Office Assistant/Summer Student
    - Production Assistant
    - Transcriber
    - Reception
    - Production Secretary
    - Data Entry Clerk
    - Assistant Editor
    - Design Assistant
    - Post Production Coordinator
    - Production Coordinator
    - Office Manager
  • My list! Im only 17, so what can you expect?

    - Paint Store Employee (all arounder, stock, cash, everything interchangeably)
    - Boston Pizza (Started Host, Picked up Expo + Host, now Expo + Host + Kitchen)
  • Mine is rather pathetic so I shan't share.
Well my last job was not so I worked with the Canadian Mental Health Association as a canvasser... Collecting Donations.
  • Mine isn't nearly that prolific or interesting, but:

    1. Strawberry picker at a local farm
    2. Donut maker/sorter/delivery person (had to fill them with jelly or put the icing on top.)
    3. Automotive parts inspector/re-worker
    4. Temporary part-time student line worker at General Motors on midnights
    5. Student advertising intern at Maclean's Magazine
    6. Painter

It would have been better if I wasn't already working 9 hours a day on a farm. The driver job was just for some supplemental income. For the record, the girls were some of the nastiest skanks I've ever seen. None were under 30 and all had some sort of chemical dependancy (alcohol, crack, cocaine, etc). I didn't want what they were selling but the cash was good and I got a few interesting stories out of it.

yeah this blows big time (even though I'm getting it on console)
I'll vote with my wallet though, 59.99 on pc = me not buying it until its dirt cheap

I'd be in it for the driving and the amusing stories. Maybe throw an easily-removable seat-cover on the back seat... Don't want anything left in the car when she leaves!! lol
  • I found out today that Windows 7 by default will see a multi-core CPU as a single core. I fixed mine so now it literally runs twice as fast if not more. I did a few service and registry tweaks too. That is a big "F" for Microsoft.

  • It may depend on your manufacture but my laptop and it seems many other manufactures for power consumption reasons by default set it to 1 core. You can check by running system config and clicking on boot, then advanced options. This will tell you how many cores or processors you are running. By default it's 1.
  • I don't know if I'm bored by gaming right now, or only have a taste for Risk... but man...

I played the Killzone 3 MP... quit halfway through a match, bored.
Bulletstorm Demo. Quit half way through, bored.
Killzone SP Demo. Quit. Didn't finish.
Stacking - I have the full game on PSN, didn't pay for it. Did a couple of little missions and I'm bored.
Dead Nation - Played through the first level. Bored.

There were some other games/demos too... I don't even recall what they were, but they all just bored the hell out of me.

All I want to do is dominate the hell out of people in Risk...

I can't for the life of me figure out why! Since when was shooting people in the face not enjoyable? Bah!
  • maybe your burn out on fps games?

  • @Doos sounds like you need some minecraft in your life.
There is an easy way to get the full game for free :P  Google will help you

It SHOULD run on your computer at least semi-decently. My one buddy plays on a little Netbook sometimes... sooo

  • My Xbox is back and I discovered that you can have an army of over 1000 troops in Risk. Now it's time to discover if it will roll over into the 5 digit range...

How you ask? Trap a computer player in Australia and let him beat on you a little bit for cards, then you beat on him, cards. Trade in until goal is reached.

Takes a long time, but I'm doing other stuff in between giant battles...

@Hawks No Minecraft for me yet... I'm not ready to make the leap.

Took you this long to discover that? That was one of the first things I did on the game :) I finally gave in and eliminated the AI when I had around 1,200 troops. I did the same thing, trapped him in Australia. When I was ready to attack, he had something like 500 troops, so I moved all my troops out of the way to see what the AI would do. He went on a world domination and took mostly everything (since I had 1's everywhere) except, obviously, for my 1,200 troops, which it didn't touch.

    Fail.
  • I'm sure I've posted about this before, but Checkpoint-only save system really piss me the fuck off.

Just played through the end of Chapter VII in Halo 3 on Heroic and you have to take on two Scarabs.  Take out one Scarab and it doesn't checkpoint you, die, and you have to take them both on again, and again, and again.  Took me about 20 tries and I haven't sworn this much in a long, long time.

So, with heartfelt courtesy: Fuck you Bungie.

    The end.
  • I'm my own official tech support as Telus doesn't have any and it wasn't in Xbox Supports domain. Telus updated the firmware on the gateway but won't help when nothing would connect to the internet. I got it fixed but had to hack into the damn thing and force it to be xbox friendly. FU Telus! Yes they know what I did, and are now trying to come up with a fix. Thought they would disable the gateway but they didn't.

My 2 beef-able rants as of late?  Dudes failing at pissing into urinals/not lifting the seat when pissing, and people failing at driving in the snow.

I walked into our men's washroom here at work the other day (last week sometime) and under one of the urinals, there was an entire puddle of piss. Then I thought to myself: did this dude even TRY to aim for the urinal, or was he deliberately aiming at the floor? I'm pretty sure they weren't intoxicated as that could be the only legitimate reason for failing so hard. Additionally, if you can't do that, then use the toilet, but for fuck's sake, LIFT THE DAMN SEAT, don't piss all over it too! The REASON it is there is to be put down when you need to sit, and lifted if you're standing. And if you fail at pissing standing up, then sit the fuck down. /rantP1

So last Wednesday, we had a "snowstorm" in Toronto & surrounding areas. I prefer the nomenclature used by folks in Seattle, snowpocalypse. It honestly seems like that, because any semblance of driving knowledge seems to wash away when the flakes start falling; albeit that "feature" isn't exclusive to snow, it happens when it rains too. I'm puzzled by the fact that people still don't know how to deal with snow, it really isn't that difficult, not to mention you LIVE in Toronto, where is snows every year, so fucking figure it out already!!! The only redeeming factor was seeing the numbnuts with their sport/summer tires on already not being able to get up a hill. Sometimes I really wish I had the right to pull people out of their cars and take away their drivers' licenses. /rantP2

Rant 1:  People do that here too.  I simply don't understand how people just don't seem to be able to expel bodily waste properly, and it really makes me glad I don't have to see what their home washrooms look like.  Call me curtious, but if for any reason I happen to get a little urine on the porcelain, I take some toilet paper and clean it up.  Why?  Because I have a sense of decency.

Rant 2:  I agree, people are idiots in such weather.  I'm happy to say that since I now live 10 to 15 minutes from a TTC station, I walk or bus it most days and have avoided driving in all but one winter storm this year.  Not worried about my own winter skills; worried about some idiot hitting me, and I feel better leaving the car at home.

  • My Acer laptop died yesterday, bad ram. Acer wanted me to pay for shipping it to them via UPS or FedEx. Both were rather expensive. I just went and picked up new ram for much less then it would cost to ship. The laptop was free, but it was purchased at Costco by my employer. They would do nothing even though they provide a 2 year warranty and Acer was useless. Warranty void now so I'll just provide my own warranty, its much faster and more reliable anyway.
