Dragon's Dogma
  • Several of us seem to have this game, so i thought we should have our own thread to discuss the game and help each other out with missions or pawn use

i'm using a Strider right now, but i don't know if i want to change my vocation yet

does anyone know what skills/augments carry over when you change that stuff?

  • Hahaha, making this thread was probably for the best.

I changed my vocation from Strider to Ranger and none of the skills I bought as a Strider carried over. I did have one new one and the two you start the game with though.
  • ahhh that kind of sucks

so many discipline points down the drain...

is it worth it to go with Ranger? i was thinking of jumping to Assassin
  • I am finding it quite a bit stronger than Strider. I am also going to just to assassin sometime after I am done experimenting with Ranger.
  • I think I'm gonna hang around with the Strider class for a bit. I made my pawn a Warrior class, and he wields a greathammer.
  • I will be delving more into this thread and its future discussions. Just wanted to say hi, and that I to have this wonderful game.
  • You guys are selling me on this big time. And I hate you all for it becuase you sold me on diablo 3 as well and it eats my time. Thanks but I also hate you guys for it. (not really)

  • That was THE COOLEST THING EVER!

I found the grimoir for some guy walking around town but instead of giving it to him, I went to the forger, got a forgery, gave it to him and completed the quest. I then proceeded to, right in the middle of the market, check as see what would happen if I used the real copy. IT RAINED METEORS ALL OVER THE CITY!

I am now in jail for murdering 10 people. D: I wish I saved before I did that so I could go back and keep it for a tough battle.
  • ^ haha nice, i found that Black Cat shop after i gave the guy the real version, but i wish i would've kept it
  • My goodness, @GaussianMist. You have created a beast!

I was walking down the road, minding my business when a thief comes out of the bushes and demands all my money. Zangief was just like NOPE and gave him one swift smack to the face and KO'd him.
  • All the talk about this game has me intrigued. I'll have to check out the demo and maybe pick it up when it's cheaper if I like it.

There's a chance I may end up feeling like Joystiq's reviewer, though.

That's because reviewers don't play games for fun anymore. There snobby and critique the lamest things. Look at movies and the Oscars.

    I tend to agree.

  • Found my first Drake. Fought for an hour before I realized I wasn't doing much of anything. Fled.
  • i changed to an Assassin but so far i'm not really a fan....i don't really like being so slow

using a broad sword is cool and getting bonuses at night is sweet, but i like being able to dodge roll and double jump and i can't anymore

    been doing lots of exploring

    Which volation can double jump?
  • ^ Strider can and i think Ranger too, but i'm not certain on that one

come to think of it maybe the Assassin would be able to double jump too if i use daggers instead of a sword because i think it might be a dagger use skill

  • (26 May 2012 Update!)

+ "Special Pawns Now at Your Disposal!"
The following pawns created by the Dragon's Dogma
    development team are now available!

Enlist them through the Summon Menu in any Rift under
    "Special Pawns"
    They await your command, Arisen!
  • killed the dragon that roams around one of the woods...think it's called Devilwood or something

my pawns called it a Drake, so i guess there are a few different types
  • I came across that a couple days ago, and got my ass whipped, so I ran like a bitch.
  • ya i got wrecked by it too first time i came across it, but after leveling up and stocking up on curatives i decided to kick its ass

plus i fought it at night and the Assassin has some pretty badass augment bonuses when the sun goes down

  • I just got my pawn back from @GaussianMist and basically quadrupled my Rift Crystals.
  • Ya, I switched him out, and back in, so I got the updated level. He was level 23, used him for a long time, switched him out, and now he's level 32. I'll still be using him for a while.
  • I guess I should do that with Zangief as he is only level 19 right now.
  • @GaussianMist You may want to rehire Kalle again. I just bought and upgraded new weapons and armor for him.
  • I'll do that the next time I hop on. I've been slacking, my guys are only like level 23
  • @GaussianMist They may only be level 23 but Zangief stronger than any other pawn I have hired and still holds his own really well.
  • I just finished a really cool mission, by far my favorite so far, and came face to face with that jerk of a Dragon that stole my heart.
  • I don't know what is happening! This is so cool!
  • Finished the main game and now playing through a bunch of post-game content. The Ur-Dragon is a pain in the butt.
  • Damn, you really played the crap out of that didn't you? What was your final game time, when you finished?
  • @GaussianMist Playing only the main missions and one or two side missions, 30 hours. I passed a heck of a lot of side missions that I don't think I can do now though. If you want to do all the side missions witout doing new game + you need to do them before you fight the dragon who stole your heart.

That being said, there is a heck load of post-game content. I have played for 6 hours since I finished the game and I still haven't even left the city.
  • Mother of god...

    Dark Chimeras. Ugh.
  • MAJOR TIP to anyone playing this game. Once you get the quest to gather 20 wakestones, DO NOT TURN IT IN UNLESS YOU ARE FINISHED EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO DO.

Once you turn in that quest, there is no turning back. You will get the final ending/battle and the only thing you can do after is start newgame+.
  • i'm over 40 hours into the game and i still haven't visited with the duke yet
  • PSA: assuming everyone hasn't traded the game in yet, the RE6 demo is available to download now

the token code is on the back of one of the instruction manuals and then you need to download it with the DD disc
  • I haven't...thank you so much Ignition for letting me know!
  • I don't plan on trading this game, I find it's gameplay mechanics to be rather unique. Certain other aspects, like the story, could really use some looking into.
  • Anybody try the RE6 demo yet? I'm curious to hear some feedback. I'm looking forward to trying it when it's made available for everybody else.

Ill let you know later if someone else doesn't respond first. I'm addicted to Blacklight Retribution and I have to get ready to see Spider-Man in 3D with some friends...THEN I shall give er a whirl.

i tried out Chris and Leon's stories, but i didn't get to Jake's

Chris's demo was much more action-oriented, while Leon's was mostly about opening doors and walking through close quarters hallways without much in the way of combat

they were both pretty short and you can play them in co-op, but i did them solo

they were kind of meh to me...maybe co-op is more fun?

  • If the AI is anything like it was in Resident Evil 5, CO-OP will be a lot more fun.
  • Not too interested in those modes, but I am reminded that I want to play the game a bit sometime later.
  • MY GOD, it's a free Update from Capcom
