Playstation Move
  • Is anybody else interested in this? Or am I the only one? It looks dece and I think things like this have a lot of potential. Im not 100% in love with a lot of the software that I'm seeing, its very derivative and samey but theres some thats trying new things. A lot of people seem to associate this sort of thing with 'waggle controls' or 'jumping around' but i see a world past that. It could go somewhere if only some brave developers risk it and try something new.
  • I don't have a PS3 : )
  • I don't have a PS3 : )

    Meither
  • I am totally interested.

That 'Sorcerer' game looks great! I think 'Move' is going to decimate 'Kinect' on a sale by sale comparison.

Dead Space 2 will be released with a revamped version of Dead Space Extraction which really, really, bums me out... because I want Extraction with a light gun, but don't care to play multi-plats on the PS3.

Perhaps I can just find Extraction at some point and continue the franchise on the 360.. but I won't know if that's a viable option until closer to the release.

I've always loved 'gun games' so to speak, and it's been a long while since one came out on a console I own, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what they come out with.

Plus I think those 'Gladiator' games etc. will do really well with the two controller scheme. Shield and sword etc.

It appeals to me much more than Kinect, at this point.

Kinect has potential, whether it's squandered or not.. well, we'll see.

  • Time Crisis. This is why I will have the Move, and well I should be getting one for free too.
  • I want one for free as well. Help.
  • Get rich girl, offer sexual services. BING! Suger Momma.
  • Steps 1 and 2, check. Step 3 = results pending.
  • If she's really rich, she won't mind spreading the wealth to acquaintances as well!

    Hook a brother up, yo!
  • Step 1: Find Rich girl
    Step 2: ?????
    Step 3: Profit!
  • I do want the PS Move, but I want to wait for a few friends to get it first and let me know how well it works. I don't usually trust new items right off the bat. There is always SOMETHING that goes wrong.

Killzone 3 would be pretty fun I think using that wand.
  • allright well i have tried both and maybe for the move i didnt get to play a game that allows for 1:1 movement simply becuase it was a mutliplat (wii core mechanic) title. Im gonna anticipate LOTS of that actually. It would be nice if the boxes said full 1:1 control or not.

I played the LOTR game at fanexpo and i did a chop from top to botten left to right and then i tried a 45 degree swing...the game made me do an upward swing so loool i dunno..

As for kinect adventures works fine good 1:1 but just the games seem to suck imo. Oh yes and everything that i said about failride was true. Horrible controls fail..fail @ added price tag. That game went from free to broken and costing money.

this is how i feel about kinect.
  • if they opened up kinect and PSmove to indie developers they'd take off a lot faster i'm sure. Indie devs would really push the envelope, try new innovative stuff, and really get creative with it.
  • Kinect with 'SpyParty' could probably be something special.
  • I'm interested in it, but the launch games don't really interest me. I may get it in the future, but not right now. I'd like to play Heavy Rain with the new controls, but that option isn't worth $80+ to me.

I forgot about the Dead Space Extraction bundle. I've already played through it on the Wii, so I doubt I'd bother with it anyways. I usually buy multi-platform games on the 360 though. Extraction was a good game, though.

  • this is how i feel about kinect.

The above gets my seal of approval.
  • i'll wait until there is more software im interested in
  • I got the chance to play with move today. It's not horrible. It actually controls quite well and can do some good things. I still say it will come down to the software though.

there are some hardware issues though but its quite emersive, even though some of the games i tried out were a bit waggle-ish. They make nice use of the camera + internet connectivity though.

my biggest problem is that most of the software seems fixated on simulating reality rather than doing something more interesting.

oh and tiger woods golf with the PS Move is harder than real golf. Just saying.
  • That fighting game will not do well. People want speed, they're going to try and get it out of the move and half of what they do won't be recognized because the previous motion won't be finished playing out on screen.

That's the way it looks to me. I'd love to be wrong about that, but I don't think I will be.

Lol. I would love to see characters on the screen look like they are having a mini-seizure when the player is flailing their arms around punching like an enraged cow.

Rapid Adoption Indicates Widespread Consumer Interest in Immersive, Realistic Gaming

Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (“SCEA”) today announced that it has shipped over one million units of its highly anticipated PlayStation®Move in North and Latin America in the first 30 days of availability. • Don't have a PS3, not even remotely interested in a Dildo & Vibe combo pack.

However, the Kinect, I've played with and it's awesome.
  • I was about to comment saying doesn't anybody else think it looks like a dildo? Thank you Datz.
I really don't see the appeal to the Playstation Move. Its a fucked up looking dildo with a lightbulb on the end, that allows you to turn your PS3 into a Wii. What a fucking waste of time. They literally saw what Nintendo did with the Wii, and hit copy - paste. Microsoft at least saw what Nintendo did, and expanded on the idea to bring it to another level. We'll have to wait and see if it does better, but they at least went and did something totally new.

I've used Kinect (playtested Joyride before Project Natal was announced, with the controller, and then shortly after Project Natal was announced with it) and its just not something that interests me at all. Plus I don't have the space for it in my room. I'd have to get another 360 and put it in my living room, which aint gunna happen when I have no interest. Kinect interests me more than Move though, which says something when I have no interest in Kinect lol.
I've seen Move in Futureshop on display, and have watched ppl use it, and just think how stupid they look flailing around a dildo with a lightbulb on it. Yes I know ppl also look stupid playing Kinect, but at least they aren't flailing a dildo with a lightbulb on it around.
    (I do own a PS3 fyi)

  • Surprised it seems to be doing well
  • @TTRDrPayne I've been calling it the PS Dildo and Vibrator for a while now, easily a year... LOL

Sure the PS Dildo might sell more units, but I think, overall Kinect will do better in terms of attach rate and $ sales.
  • I'm not imaginative... so Kinect at this point has shown me absolutely nothing of interest. The PS Dildo is much more appealing. Once some more tightly made 'shooting gallery' games come out, I'll probably pick one up.

I've always loved those stand up games in arcades. Having a version in my home would be excellent... but if they're just going to be cheap lame cash ins like 'The Shoot' etc. They can keep 'em.

With the news that MS is rolling out a $900m ad campaign for Kinect... well, that, as silly as it sounds, sounds like desperation to me.

They're going all in for a push on this hardware... For whatever reason, that does not fill me with faith in the product.

I'm probably wrong.. but it all looks very 'Virtual Boy' to me.
  • Actually M$ are spending $500m on advertising Kinect, not $900m. M$ are spending $500m on advertising the Windows Phone 7 aswell.

  • My bad... $500m.

Seeing it in action (Videos) leaves me feeling quite 'meh' about the entire thing. I haven't played it yet and I'm not dead set against it or anything... But, I get the feeling that, Yeah, while it does have potential, that potential will be squandered.

It's also very limited in who can use it. I don't know about you guys, but I definitely don't have the required amount of space (8ft?) needed for it to function as advertised... and that's a problem.

But, I've been wrong before... I'll be wrong again, and I hope it comes up with some really cool shit... 'cause that'd be great! I like cool shit.

    But I'm not optimistic.

    Simply makes you a realist.
  • I have a Playstation Move, I enjoy the games I have that are move compatible. RE 5 Gold Edition is a blast to play with the Move, as is MAG. I still have to try Heavy Rain with it, and the Sports Champions games are enjoyable as well.
  • Other than the look, I find it fastenating. I agree with Mister Switch as this does have great potential.
It has potential that Kinect currently doesn't imo.
  • One thing for anyone that isn't sure about Kinect, hit up the Kinect Experience by the Eatons Centre in DT Toronto... You can get plenty of hands-on time with it and several different games.

@KowZ and I went down there last weekend (the 16th) and were there for about 3 hours (8-11pm)... Worked up quite a sweat, especially on Your Shape (block breaker mode, you had to cross-punch to hit the blocks, we were going for high-scores)

I'm hoping to make the Gold event tomorrow evening, but might be stuck at the office.
  • you should. there may be some special hosts or something. just saying.
  • Yea, for anyone that has a free evening and can make it to Toronto tomorrow night: http://bit.ly/cqmVvZ

I'd suggest you get there early too.
  • Early is for sure not a possibility, and my boss is visiting tomorrow. If he stays over night into Wednesday as he was first planning to, I likely won't be able to make the event as we'll be working late and going over stuff.

    Otherwise, I will be there.

Megan Fox is going to be demonstrating Kinect Adventures?

If that's the case, then consider this event invite only and myself and her are the only 2 people invited. Giggity giggity ;)
  • Keadin, that was excellent.

If whatever you're doing now doesn't work out, you could probably find work as one of those dudes who flags airplanes.
  • Too bad the didn't code "slap fight" into the game. That would have been so funny if it could have recognized that.
  • The funny thing is the first time I did this, off camera, I totally won. Demolished the CPU
