TV shows - that stuff between commercials!
  • Discussion in another thread made me want to start a new one specifically for it.

Tell me some good TV shows!

I'll start. One of my personal all time favorites is The Prisoner.

  • I really dig Breaking Bad.

Walking Dead (although I haven't started the 2nd season, and won't until it ends.)

I'm interested in that Hell on Wheels show as well. Anyone seen an episode yet?
  • Don't watch season 2 of the walking dead. its ass. Just enjoy season 1 and live off he memories.
  • I don't think I'll be able to do that.. But I've heard that from a few people.

Any one interested in old Brit Sci-fi would do well to watch all seasons of Red Dwarf. Available on Netflix..

    Totally worth it.
  • Was wondering where a T.V. thread was.

Yeah, the second season of TWD wasn't the greatest. I started some of the S2 episodes before the S1 ones 'cause I started it late, but after going back and watching the rest of S2 and seeing how much they dragged out.. it was kind of boring. And annoying.

@Doos - I sort of watched an episode because I wanted to see more of a preview for the next Walking Dead. I didn't follow it very much but it seems like it could be a cool show.
  • @Dino That's in regards to 'Hell On Wheels'?

Yeah, it does seem like it could be cool.

Plus, working for the railroad, now I refer to work as 'Hell On Wheels'.

Which is awesome.. and lame.. it's lamesome!
  • I love Red Dwarf.
  • Red Dwarf is awesome..

Also, continued from the movies thread.. the new BSG was pretty frakkin' good too.
  • I agree with @Doos, BSg is amazing.

@Rajio Did you know there was a re-make of the Prisoner starring Jim Cavizel and Ian McKellan?
  • Yes. I watched 2 episodes and got bored as fuck. :(
  • That sucks. It actually looked like it would be not too bad. Maybe I'll take a pass on it myself.
  • when they aired that though, AMC put the original series up for viewing on their website, restored clean footage. i've been trying to find 'digital downloads' of that recording and can't. Only ones I ever find are from Vhs transfers so they're old and blurry. :(
  • Although it's no longer on, I love me some "24" There's a rumour the movie could actually start to shoot sometime next spring. Other than sports, there aren't too many shows I make a habit to watch. Networks are pulling the plug on shows pretty early now and it's a piss off to get into a story only to have the show cancelled leaving you hanging...
  • I liked the first couple seasons of that shows but then it got formulaic and ridiculous.
  • @Doos - Yeah sorry to be so vague, like I said, I was sort of and sort of not paying attention. Was mostly waiting for TWD preview. didn't realize it had to do with railways lol, just assumed it was some westerner with "cowboys and indians".
  • Pure Pwnage and Trailer Park Boys obviously. Two of my favourite TV Shows are Canadian ... oddly enough

    PP Trailer
  • Pure Pwnage is still on?

    Cool.

    nope
  • It would seem TPB is posting Christmas Messages though. They have a recent upload date... and ive never seen 'em
  • Pretty sure I just watched the very last episode of my show.

    What a horrible ending.
  • All my favorite shows of all time seem to come from FOX.
    24
    X-Files
    Prison Break
Touch (comes out this next March but it looks amazing)

I also like a little Breaking Bad and Lie To Me once in a while. :)
  • Battlestar Galactica (Best show ever made)
Firefly (Why did you die? WHY?!?)
Dexter (Were talking about the first 3 seasons)
    Californication (Again...first few seasons)
Weeds (Its actually still pretty good)
Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia (Just fuckin hilarious)
    Life's Too Short
    Game of Thrones
Breaking Bad (One of the most intense shows in television history. The ending of "Crawl Space" is the most insane scene ever filmed in movie/tv history. It will give you fuckin chills)
    The Walking Dead
Homeland (If you haven't checked this out, do so)
  • Pure Pwnage is probably the worst thing I've ever seen.

  • That probably makes you a noob.
  • its pretty bad doos.
  • But.. but.. he's got the macro.
  • Its micro.
Although, I'm sure he's got the macro as well.
  • That sounds infectious.
  • I also like the show Hung.. on HBO? I think?

I watch it on Icefilms.. where I watch most of my TV.

'bout a dude working on the side as a gigolo. Pretty good show.

I too also enjoy the occasional bout of 'Weeds'.
  • Workaholics is greeeaaatt!
  • I totally forgot.. During dinner the wife and I have been watching Roseanne.

We're going to try to go through the entire series.. which is lengthy.

Did you guys know Joss Whedon was a story editor on that series?? I didn't til now.. must be why it's so fucking gooooood!
  • I've been watching Nikita and Covert Affairs with my wife, they are not too shabby. I am really into Camelot which airs on CBC and it's a nice good Arthurian story. I do watch some reality based stuff on Food Network/TLC with Recipe to Riches, Next Iron Chef and Next Great Baker - not amazing stuff but entertaining. This encompasses the bulk of what I watch currently in between work and gaming.

If I buy a TV show to own it usually means I love it a lot or it was too cheap to pass up :P. So on my TV shelf of favs we have: Alias, BSG, Big Bang Theory, Doctor Who, Eureka, House, Sanctuary, Smallville, Stargate: SG1 and Atlantis and Veronica Mars.

On a side note, some good HBO shit is : Game of Thrones, Spartacus and Boardwalk Empire.

Watching Toy Story one the other day I noticed he was doing some story stuff with that too. Betcha the creepy scenes he had a bit of influence.

  • @johnny - did you watch season 1 of next great baker? I seen the ending of it. i thought the winner was supposed to work with him in the bakery but he left after like an episode or two.
been watching the second season. i like it.

big bang theory is another favourite of mine, too. i've been PVR-ing it, and my friend has th first season on DVD so we watched that. they've been playign the same '08 and '09 eps on T.V> though so I've seen 'em all. i gotta catch up, I've seen a couple new episodes and some info on fbook and i want to know what's going on !
  • @xxDinoSaurus Yup, watched it and he actually appears on the second season of Next Great Baker. I think he does stuff with him, just not in front of the camera so much.

Yep I saw that too. I was pretty surprised.

Buddy said something about, he taught Dana all of his tricks and stuff.. made me think that he took all that and then went his own way kind of thing. Maybe yo're right though, just thought he'd be showcased more.
Was confused by that after season 1.

  • Holy jesus balls.. Fear Factor is back.

    Episode 1:

The reality series returns with a series of dares. In one, airlifted contestants must hop onto the back of a truck that is heading toward an explosive collision with a barrier. Also: They must eat five scorpions; and they are strapped to the front of a cement mixer as it travels down a runway.

Eating fucking scorpions? Gah! Freak me the fuck out!
  • @Doos I saw both of the new episodes from yesterday and it is just like I remember it. Gross, painful and lots of injuries.
  • I bet.. I started watching the first episode and then got distracted by music and dishes..

Right now I'm singing along to some Alice in Chains and I'm pretty sure anyone within earshot is probably wondering who's choking a duck.

    Spoiler:
    It's me
  • Oh yeah I saw that Fear Factor was back. Only a few months ago they were doing a ton of repeat episodes so I was watching that like 'oh snap fear factor!". Didn't see the new one but I read about the scorpions and explosives..

Yeesh. That can't be healthy. What about the stinger?
  • You eat that fucking stinger!! You want 50 grand? (It's 50 grand, right?) EAT THAT FUCKING STINGER!

I can just hear Joe Rogan:

YOU NEED TO GET MORE SCORPION IN YOUR MOUTH!!!!
  • I would imagine the glands where the poison is secreted would be worse for you than the stinger. Plus not all types of scorpions are dangerous to humans. Hell in some countries they are a food source.
  • pffft if its dangerous you can sue the network for more than 50 grand. its win win, right?
  • Im sure there are contracts ;)
  • If that's what the people want, that's what the people get! At any cost!

Is it still the same host dude?
I need to get some FF recording set up.

I remember thsi one episode.. it was like a couples or family episode or something.
They had to use their mouths to transfer worms from a bowl into a grinder.. and then grind the worms which fell into the other person's mouth and they ate the ground up worms.
    MMMM DELICIOUS.
  • @Raj

Yeah, I'm guessing their waivers are pretty fucking thick.

Hell, I get ten pages of document when I upgrade Itunes..

@Dino Yep, still Joe Rogan and still bat shit crazy stunts.
  • I saw him on a television show doing an interview.. looks the same. I was also disappointed in that interview because it said he'd be talking about what we should be expecting, but no, they didn't.

I watched Geek Love last night. Haha, it was awesome. Poor Chewie didn't get any perfect matches though. BUT! TLC updated on Twitter that his Wonder Woman contacted him and they've been emailing back and forth.
    Awww.
  • Huge shocker at the end of The Next Great Baker on today's episode.. damn.

    Spoiler:
Wesley died from a gunshot wound in late October.. I think it was self-inflicted, but I'm not sure. He was sent home in that episode too.
  • Yeah, my wife and I enjoyed Geek Love a lot .. made us feel normal.
  • Aside from news and sports the only shows my girlfriend and I watch daily would be Judge Judy. If life was a game, Judge Judy is the final boss. She tolerates zero bullshit, nothing gets past her, and she outs idiots everyday. Great show.

Howdy, Stranger!
