Every time i see the word Reboot it makes me think of Bob, Dot, Enzo, Fong, Hack, Slash, and my personal favorite, MIKE THE TV.

    I don't think it would be AC3, since it's not a reboot, it's just a sequel.

I doubt it's KI3, I want it to be but im not getting my hopes up
  • killer instinct would be the perfect hing to come back. The timing is right due the genre booming like crazy. The title of the game most likely includes killer. So ask what games have killer in it?
  • Everywhere I look people are hoping it's a new Killer Instinct.
  • Brute Force
  • If it's Killer Instinct 2, prepare for a surge of Mortal Kombat vs Killer Instinct rumours.

Don't be too sure. Remember; Halo 4 was announced as a brand new trilogy.
  • Fuck yeah, killer instinct !

a KI vs MK would be sick... just saying
  • Halo series never made me think of "killer"

I wouldn't call Halo 4 a reboot, to me reboots are games that have had 4 or 5 year hiatus. Syndicate, SSX I'd call those reboots

A "Killer" sequel makes me think of Killer Instinct. lolz
Also, the blood splatter looks like am eye and eyebrow to me. Similar to that of Perfect Dark Zero.
  • a reboot as in a "true sequel" to AC2 perhaps. Ur rendition of reboot might not coincide with theirs [OXM]

Oh shit my bad... just noticed OXM is the magazine. Then it will be an original Xbox exclusive. 99%

@MSQGanner yes me too, there are more than us than u think out there ;) everytime I play a game I think of "incoming game" and all the sprites I've killed and their homes I've destroyed. And they try so hard to stop me but "I (user) always win" except in dark souls lol that world is safe from users attacking at anytime.

The blood splatter reminds me of that.
  • Good observation Whorror.

Well to be fair, it did get a reboot. They just called it "Halo Reach" and it was pretty good.
  • See I define reboot differently. For me, a reboot is when they take a franchise and start it over.

The Amazing Spider-Man coming out this summer is a reboot. X-Men: First Class isn't a re-boot but a prequel.

Mortal Kombat (2011) was a reboot as it redid the original trilogy, Halo: Reach isn't a reboot as it's simply a prequel worked into the established canon.

Fucking this, I guess the new Twisted Metal would also be a reboot. So X-com, Fallout and Syndicate would also be good examples of reboots

its jet grind radio coming to the xbla, jet set radio future was the xbox exclusive sequel

this is what im thinking, something everybody knows is coming, yet they feel its a big announcement (kind of like biowares big reveal that just turned out to be mass effect 3, really? the third game in your planned trilogy? what a shocker!)

im really hoping for something awesome but i know better than to actually get my hopes up about things like this these days
  • See I see Halo:Reach as a reboot of Brute Force, set in the halo universe.
  • True Crime: Hong Kong reborn sounds like a reboot sequel. Just saying.

  • Fucking this, I guess the new Twisted Metal would also be a reboot. So X-com, Fallout and Syndicate would also be good examples of reboots

I wouldn't group Fallout in with that though. Fallout 3 is definitely set in the same universe as Fallout and Fallout 2; it even makes references to parts of those games.

I have not played Fallout: New Vegas, but I've heard the same. Fallout 3 and it's sequels would be the same franchise, just putting it in a different genre than the original two.

Sort of like how Halo Wars is not a reboot either, but of course it's not a shooter.

I've never played Brute Force so I can't comment there.
  • What's AC3?
  • What's AC3?

    Assassins Creed 3, im guessing
  • It won't be AC3 as they are doing a proper announcement on Monday.

Killer Instinct is a good as guess as any for a reboot. Last system was on N64 and Rare has made the title, but I thought Nintendo owned the rights? (publishing at least).

  • Splinter Cell 6
  • I wanna say Killer 7, but I don't think that game was very popular.
  • Splinter Cell 6

no blood in splinter cell games. And not a reboot as there hav been 2 sequels on the 360 already.

Rare retained all the rights to their IP's(Banjo, KI, Perfect Dark, Conker)

Wait maybe JUST MAYBE IT'S JET FORCE GEMINI that's a Rare IP that should get a reboot

  • JUST MAYBE IT'S JET FORCE GEMINI

YEAHSSSSSSS! AWESOME GAME ON TEH N64
We shud rename this thread to "what old game do u want to see remade/rebooted" yo
  • well its also a splash of blood (which may be in the shape of something indicative?) .... so I'd lean towards a KI reboot rather than, say, viva pinata.

....but it theres a KI reboot with Viva Pinata DLC? Shut up and take my money.

Blast corps would make a great XBLA title.
  • I wouldn't be surprised if it is Killer Instinct, although I would prefer if it was something different. Not into fighting games.
  • I wouldn't group Fallout in with that though. Fallout 3 is definitely set in the same universe as Fallout and Fallout 2; it even makes references to parts of those games.

I agree with your definition of reboot, but I think it could be argued that Fallout 3 would be one. It did completely change the way the game was played.

Day one purchase. Fuck, I'd buy two!

  • The verb reboot, in media dealing with serial fiction, means to discard much or even all previous continuity in the series and start anew with fresh ideas.

The only example I can think of off the top of my head right now is the new Spiderman movie. Everything was tossed aside like it didn't exist and they started anew.

There is also the new Tomb Raider game coming out. Hah...that series has been rebooted God only knows how many times.
  • Wait maybe JUST MAYBE IT'S JET FORCE GEMINI that's a Rare IP that should get a reboot

as amazing as it would be to see one of my all time fav games return, the blood is the wrong colour for jfg :(

taking the image somewhat literally, a blood reboot would be amazing, one of my favorite fps' back in the day

    I live.. again!
  • NO MORE FPS GAME PLEASE!
  • Gaming in general is oversaturated these days. Companies need, to stop with the yearly releases and take moretime to develop titles. Instead ofchurning out games non stop.

Way too many games come out in a year which also hurts some of the lesser known games.

Bingo. I plan to start limiting more what I buy right now.
  • Everyone needs to stop buying stuff
  • I love the fighting game genre, and one thing I loved about it was that there werent too many of them at any given time. Today though I am overwhelmed by how many are out at once.

thats only one genre, there are tons of other genres with many more releases ever year.

  • They dont seem too common anymore... only a few really big series releasing, even then, its not terribly often.

Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Marvel vs Capcom, Street Fighter, Soul Calibur, and various other Mixed games.

Not nearly as many as other genres for sure

(i know i missed a few fighting game series)
