So, this teen lives in a poor section of China, but wants the latest gadget. Sees an add about selling your kidney for cash and says. "nice, easy way to make some bucks"

Has the operation with the promise of $3,100 , most of which actually went to pay the surgeon , rent the hospital room to have the illegal surgery and pay a couple attendants. So he really only got about 300 dollars out of the deal.

The kid was 17 at the time. He now has renal deficiency.

On one hand the black market organ trade takes advantage of the poor. On the other hand some people are so desperate to keep up with other people who have the latest tech that they are willing to risk their lives to get it.

It's bad enough that there is organ harvesting , but people now do it willingly for next to nothing.

Same. When I was fiirst born I had kidney issues and I am pretty sure both of them were operated on. I don't think even the black market guys would want em.

I find the whole thing disturbing. I can't imagine selling my kidney on the black market for something like an iPad. Granted, I'm not that interested in tablets, but there are better ways to earn money and the things are updated every year or so.

@ Wick. Finally someone with a bit of thought put into this topic.

It is disturbing that a 17 year old boy would risk life to have an illigal operation so that he can have an expensive toy. His family most likely struggles to put food on the table but his thoughts are of the new apple gizmo.

Then there are those that prey on people just like him, so that they can make lots of cash and give him very little in exchange for his organ. Do you think they care of his well being? No , i bet theyd let him die if that wouldnt bring them more trouble than its worht to them.
