Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
  • Anybody planning on picking this up?
  • I've been thinking about a new Fps
  • Looking forward to it. I've been keeping an eye on it for a while now, covering every trailer/piece of information that's popped up.

I really liked the GRAW games, as well as the (one or two) earlier series releases I played.
  • looks tactical I just watched this
  • @Kayareswon

I just wrote about that today. Looks really interesting.
  • is there a versus MP?
  • because fighting just against "bots" or a horde mode is meh to me.
  • is there a versus MP?

    Yes
  • i'm looking forward to trying out the beta because the trailer did make the game seem interesting

hopefully the game mechanics match up
  • I agree. I'm excited for a new team-based tactical shooter, especially a new title in a series with such an impressive pedigree as Ghost Recon. I'm loading the beta on my console as I type.
  • Most likely going to pass. This series hasnt been good since hitting consoles.
  • Just loaded up the Beta to try it out but it isn't up yet apparently. I was looking forward to playing all night. D:
  • Who wants to save $10 on this game?
  • Not even out yet and already talking map packs.......AH well I was always gonna pass on this game. I even heard from a friend who was in the beta that it sucks.
  • I really enjoy the game but I will also pass on the DLC. Map Packs are 100% skippable.

To hell with that, I'll not buy it to spite them now.
  • loving this game so far. big emphasis on multiplayer, so much so that its even the first option in the menus.

once you get good squadmates its a very different game.
  • The single player campaign has been what I've focused on thus far, due to a lack of online competitors and last night's server downtime. It's blown me away.
  • I have been told the campaign is short and mediocre...the MP beta was fun, but heavily relies on team work which you just can't get on the 360 anymore (damn party chats) and I can't rely on my friends being online while I am to play. So I'm going to have to pass.
  • I disagree with the short and mediocre statement, but to each their own. I found it to be great, action-packed, well-made, polished, exciting and of slightly better than average length.
  • I don't know if I am going to pick up Ghost Recon or Dragon's Dogma next week, they are both strong contenders.
  • @Smoreninja

    Both came out today.

Depends on what type of game you're looking for, I guess. But, Ghost Recon is a great game.
  • Sadly that does not help because I enjoy both types of games. I do intend to pick up both but I still need to finish Operation Racoon City, Prototype 2, the time black hole that is Diablo 3 and TOR that I only intend to pick up one game until I get something off my plate.

Well, I already got that with Max Payne 3 then. And I'm going to go out on a limb and say the story is much better than Ghost Recons. So I'm content ; )

I'd like to save $60 on this game. kthx

As someone who got both MP3 and GR I can say that, while MP is better, GR is pretty freaking close to being as good. They both pack in a lot of content, great multiplayer and gameplay. The only thing I like better on MP than GR is the story, other than that they feel pretty on par.

(I would like to note that this is my opinion and is not to be read as fact)

Play ORC, Prototype 2, Diablo 3 and TOR for the next three months. Buy both games at half price.

  • So far, I prefer Ghost Recon to Max Payne 3. But, MP3 does have a better storyline.

    Review: http://wegotthiscovered.com/Game-review/ghost-recon-future-soldier-review/

  • Alright...having played the game now, I can agree to my friends thoughts and feelings.

The single player campaign is a bastardization of the Ghost Recon franchise. I nearly snapped the disc after witnessing the atrocity of a finale in the first mission...the next few missions retained the stealth of the series, but its become completely scripted from start to finish. Your forced into on rail shooting sequences and gun fights that completely negate any meaning of being a Ghost.

The MP is still great fun, but again...the game feels like a third person CoD. I miss GRAW.

  • I seriously hate the way the shooter industry is going...

Its pretty fuckin terrible when Ubisoft, the king of tactical shooters, is so insecure about their fucking franchises that they try and relate as closely to Call of Duty as they possibly can.

The end result is an on rails, scripted shoot em up drenched in mediocrity that I have played a billion times already and an online component that has/retains some of the worst net code that plagued it in beta.

I wont argue if the game is good or not...but the fact remains...this is far from being Ghost Recon.
  • Too bad. Ubisoft used to make some great games. They have gone downhill for sure

Hold out some hope, a new Rainbow Six is showing up some time in the future.

agreed. I also dislike host migration when you have almost captured an objective.

alas I still like the game :(

  • I can't wait until all the COD players get bored of pretending its team deathmatch and quit GRFS so I can get a team with actual objective oriented teamwork lol.

I knew I wasn't the only one who thought this game had serious MP issues.

  • Its great when you can get in a solid squad. a few people with teamwork can REALLY dominate, particularly once you level up a bit and get some decent tech. the game is all about teamwork and good use of tech.

we had a squad of 8 the other day, we all talked. we all worked together. we destroyed all enemies so bad we felt dirty .... and it was ridiculously easy when we made sure everyone had a different specialty, tech, and position and used the coordination system.

Those matches are few and far between on the 360 with the party chat...I see more coordination on the PS3 in Starhawk because there is no party chat.
