Welcome to Delay Of Game! We were founded in the summer of 2010 with one clear goal in mind: to build a friendly community by and for the members. Delay Of Game is funded voluntarily by you, the community members, and as such you have a free voice in discussing how the board is run and what you want the community to be. Heavy-handed moderation is not something you will find here, however there are certainly rules and guidelines that need to be followed for the good and respect of all members.
Terms of ServiceWe believe in maintaining a positive and open community and encourage everyone to freely discuss any topic with one another, however content involving racism, sexism, attacks against religious faiths and denominations, sexual orientation, political beliefs, pornography, and any other traditionally incendiary topic will likely see moderator intervention at the discretion of the moderation staff. We will communicate this if there is any problem, and it is always up for discussion. Treat others fairly and please report any issues to the moderation team. We're all quite active on the board and are happy to assist in any situation or to answer any questions. Of course, if you feel that a moderator is abusing their moderator privileges, this can be publicly brought forward unlike on other boards, or privately if you wish, and the site's administrator will review the situation and decide the best course of action. In short: Be friendly and if someone is being a jerk, we’ll intervene. Everyone is encouraged to discuss how the board is run beyond that. |
StaffFeel free to contact any member of the staff should you have any questions or concerns with the site. Whatever the question, we’re all happy to discuss it with you. Should you have any concerns regarding a specific member of the staff, just bring it up with other staff members and we’ll look into it for you. Our moderation staff are:
As Delay of Game is constantly being worked on, you can stay abreast of the latest updates by following our Twitter account, @DelayOfGameCA. In the event that the website is inaccessible or there are any service disruptions you’ll still be in touch with us. |
If you encounter a community member who is violating the above terms of use or if you are the victim of harassment or unfair treatment here on Delay Of Game, please do not reply to the person as this only serves to escalate the situation.
Report all violations to the moderation team and we will act as needed. You can send us Private Messages, get in touch via our twitter account (@DelayOfGameCA) or simply flag any offending post for moderation. A list of current administrators and moderators can be found above.
The moderator(s) contacted will reply to you and address the situation.
If you click on any username on the site, including your own, you will be taken to that user’s profile page. While on the profile page of other users, you can leave comments on their wall, send them private messages, or view their information.
While on your own profile page you can edit your account information including Gamertag, Steam ID, PSN ID, etc. You’ll also find your preferences for notifications and the ability to change your picture on the site.
Delay Of Game supports mentioning other users with @mentions. If you are writing a comment and include an @ immediately before entering someones user-name they will be notified that they have been mentioned in a comment. It’s a good way to get the attention of a user who might otherwise miss your comment.
When composing a comment in a discussion you can insert an image by pressing the image icon in the toolbar of the editor. It will ask you to enter the URL of the image you wish to insert which will typically begin with ‘http://’.
The image must be hosted somewhere online. If you have an image you want to upload, you can use a remote hosting service similar to Imgur to upload your file and they will provide you with an appropriate URL.
It is general etiquette to avoid posting major spoilers in discussions. Nobody likes it when someone spoils a story or a puzzle for them, so when in doubt please try to warn users when you are posting potential spoilers. It’s good practice to make it clear that you are about to post a spoiler and give users enough opportunity to avoid it if they so chose. This is a common courtesy that most of us would appreciate.
After posting to Delay Of Game, there is a five minute window during which that post remains editable. After that five minutes you will no longer be able to edit your post. If you want further changes to be made you’ll have to contact the Staff to request the changes to be made on your behalf.
While looking at the list of discussions on Delay Of Game, you can click on the speech balloon icon
to the right of it if you want to bookmark that discussion. This feature allows you easier access to select discussions for your convenience and can ensure that you get notified when they are posted to.
All discussions are updated in real time, so if you begin composing a Comment and someone else posts one before you’re finished, you’ll see it added immediately above your composition box.
To privately message any member of Delay of Game, click their user name to access their profile page. To message them, click the “Send [username] a message” link located on the left of the screen, and compose as you would any other comment.
You can add additional recipients to the private message by typing in their username in the recipients section. This makes private messages function like group discussions, only with those initially invited.
If you have unread Private Messages, there will be a number next to the “Inbox” link in the top bar of the page to indicate how many, which is viewable from any page you happen to be on while visiting Delay Of Game.
Below you’ll find a list of known bugs for the site. This list will be updated regularly as new bugs are discovered and old ones are squashed. Feel free to point out others you notice so we can get to work on them.
